Fitness goals while travelling

Travelling is the highlight of the season. Regardless of whether you are going to see your family or friends, travelling will take a toll on your workout regime. The fact that the holiday often means over-indulging with food doesn't help matters either.

When it comes to health and fitness, you know, it's a lifestyle choice. However, things get challenging when you are travelling, especially during holiday season. You might be tempted to forget about your workout routine or may be because it's too cold or you are just tired of travelling, whatever be the reason, it's just an excuse and can sabotage your fitness goal. Here are some tips to help you stick to your fitness goals even when you are travelling.

    handleing jet lag worst enemy

    Handling jet lag

Jet lag is every traveler's worst enemy. It drains you of your energy and makes it difficult to work out or do business or even see the town. There was time when I used to watch every movie I could get my hands on and get off the plane looking like a hell. Not anymore, now I sleep as much as I can on the plane and drink plenty of water. You won't believe it but now when I get off the plane, I am full of energy and can straight head to the gym.

    exercise from hotel room

    Carry your Gym DVD

While travelling, it's not always possible to have access to gym or equipments for training, why not throw in a DVD in your hotel room. You may also choose to book a hotel with a gym or at least the one that is located near a great place to go running.

      avoid buffet breakfast

      Ditch buffet breakfast

Breakfast buffet can easily pile up lot of calories while your stay in the hotel. With simple planning you can turn things around. While my stay in hotels, I schedule my training session for 6 a.m., and order egg white omelets with spinach and mushrooms for 7:30 a.m. By the time I am done with my training and shower, my breakfast has turned up.

check for healthy options at local restaurants

        Restaurants

While travelling, it's not possible to cook food. Trying local cuisine is a part of experiencing a culture. But then how do you really deal with calorie packed foreign foods? One great tip is to have a look at the restaurant's menu online and check for available healthy options before you even go there. Try to avoid anything that's fried or battered.
